Transmutation

"Like bees are to roses,
Clouds are to trees,
A learned man to knowledge,
The world was to me"

Attracted to flames,
To burn and singe,
Yet return to the flame,
In pain then cringe.

Each raining blow,
Stung on her back,
Left swollen dunes,
Blue and black.

"Like bees are to roses,
Clouds are to trees,
A learned man to knowledge,
The world was to me"

Curiosity beckoned,
Havoc it wreaked,
The little hope,
Slowly bleaked.

Then at daybreak,
A new light unfurled,
Sat smiling upon my windowsill,
Comfortably curled.

And I let go my inhibition,
Unfolded my pinion bright,
Flew towards a different radiance,
A remedying light.

"Like bees are to roses,
Clouds are to trees,
A learned man to knowledge,
The world is to me."
